Once you’ve created your job interview, it’s important to understand what it looks like from the candidate’s perspective. This guide will walk you through the candidate experience so you can ensure a smooth and professional process.
Viewing the Interview as a Candidate
To preview the interview, you can simply paste the direct link you’ve copied into a different browser window. This allows you to see exactly what candidates will encounter when they access the interview.
Job and Position Details
Candidates will first see the job you created, including the role title, description, selected experience requirements, and optional skills. Filling out these details helps provide context for candidates before they begin the interview.
Candidate Information and Document Upload
Candidates are prompted to enter their first name, last name, and email address. If you have enabled document uploads, they will also be able to submit their CV or other relevant documents prior to starting the interview.
Promotional Video
If a promotional video has been added, it will appear alongside the interview. Candidates can watch this video to better understand your company or the role before they begin answering questions.
Starting the Interview
After entering their information and uploading documents, candidates click Start Interview. A pop-up page allows them to:
Test their video and audio setup
Practice with sample questions if practice questions are enabled
Skip practice and begin the actual interview immediately
Open vs. Closed Questions
Open Questions: Candidates see the question at the top of the screen and can start recording at their own pace.
Closed Questions: Candidates have a limited time to read the question (usually 30 seconds) before the recording starts automatically.
A three-second countdown signals the start of each recording. The time limit for answering each question is displayed in the top corner, and candidates may stop recording early if they finish before the time expires.
Retakes and Review
If retakes are enabled, candidates can review their recorded responses and see how many attempts they have remaining. They can watch their recordings, make adjustments if needed, and select the version they wish to submit.
Upload Interview
Once the interview is submitted, a confirmation message will appear to let the candidate know their interview was submitted successfully.
